SWCSD Board of Education Members Recognized by Ohio School Boards Association

South-Western City School District Board of Education president Anthony A. Caldwell and vice-president Lee Schreiner have been named recipients of the Ohio School Boards Association’s STAR Training Award.

South-Western City School District (SWCSD) Board of Education president Anthony A. Caldwell and vice-president Lee Schreiner have been named recipients of the Ohio School Boards Association’s (OSBA) STAR Training Award.

The OSBA STAR Award program consists of four individual awards in the categories of: service, training, aptitude and recognition. The OSBA STAR Awards program is a points-based program where the OSBA recognizes board members who exceed certain thresholds based on the amount of time served on behalf of the schools and communities they represent.

Caldwell and Schreiner received individual STAR Training Awards based on 200 or more points accrued in service through engagement in professional development events and activities offered by the OSBA and associate organizations such as the Consortium of State School Boards Associations (COSSBA).

Annually, the OSBA Training Award is presented to a very select group of school board members. Of the more than 3,400 board members in Ohio, Caldwell and Schreiner are two of 29 who received the honor in 2023. Both individuals were recognized at the Central Ohio regional conference last evening, Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

Past iterations of the program were reflected in the Award of Achievement and Master Board Member honors before OSBA reconfigured their awards programming to the current STAR Awards program in recent years.
