On Tuesday, March 4, the South-Western Career Academy (SWCA) was named one of 56 Ohio schools designated as grant recipients for the 2024 Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program by the governor’s office.
In total, the SWCA will receive $313,604 of the state’s $67.7 million in funding set aside in the grant to expand equipment resources for 11th and 12th grade to impact new programming at the school. Specifically, these funds will enable the SWCA to double its Pre-Nursing program next fall and open a brand new HVAC program. Tuesday’s funding award also comes on the heels of the recently completed facilities expansion at the SWCA which opened earlier last month.
“Investing in our schools is an investment into our students’ futures,” said Governor DeWine. “Allowing more schools to purchase equipment so they can train more students will set them and our state up for success.”
Funding for the governor’s office’s Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program was included in the 2024-2025 state operating budget in addition to $200 million for Career Technical Construction Programs.
