On Wednesday, September 20, 2023 leadership from the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) recognized South-Western City School District (SWCSD) Board of Education president Anthony A. Caldwell for his contributions to the District at its Central Region Fall Conference held at Villa Milano in Columbus.
Specifically, Caldwell was named the recipient of two honors in the form of the Aptitude Award and the Recognition Award as a part of OSBA’s STAR Awards programming highlighting Service, Training, Aptitude, and Recognition.
Aptitude Awards are bestowed upon public school board members who receive at least a 80 percent passing score on a 50-question assessment relative to rules and regulations of school board members. Out of more than 3,400 school board members in Ohio, Caldwell was one of only 35 that will receive the honor in 2023.
Recognition Awards are distinctions from OSBA as the direct result of an adopted resolution by the majority of a local school board.
Caldwell was nominated by board resolution from his peers at the June 23, 2023 meeting of the South-Western City School District Board of Education for his “service with distinction,” “dedication of time to the betterment of students and community, and commitment to training, service and governance skills,” which has “advanced student achievement in the District and improved governance of the District.”
